![]() Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Every year on four days in September, buildings of every age, style and function throw open their doors. It is a once-a-year chance to discover architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities that bring local history and culture to life. ![]() Pavement Pounders CIC have organized Folkestone's contribution to this year's Heritage Open Days A celebration of St Eanswythe's Day. A guided walk starting and finishing at the Church of St Mary & St Eanswythe, Church St , Folkestone, Kent, CT20 1SW. St Eanswythe is the patron saint of our town: Folkestone. Her saint's day is the 12th September. On Saturday 14th, we shall lead a 2-hour guided walk, exploring both the life of this 7th century saint and founder of England's first nunnery and nearby churches. St Eanswythe's relicts are kept in the Church of St Mary and St Eanswythe. During the tour we shall meet guest speakers and visit a stained glass designer's workshop. The event is offered free of change. Advance booking is recommended. To Book ring 01303 227150 or e mail pavementpounders@gmail.com ![]() Additional information Max 30 people per tour/event. The event is being run by Pavement Pounders Community Interest Company. We have been working in Folkestone since 2010 "Exploring the heritage on our doorstep" Our core activity is devising and leading guided walks mostly on local history themes. All are welcome. Although we make no special provision for any particular age group or families the event is suitable for all but the youngest children.
